Building the set:
The Police Station has a high amount of bags and pieces. The pieces are organized by colour and type. The set takes 3-5 hours to build. The instructions are very easy to follow showing you how to complete each step. The first thing you build are the 5 figures (3 police officers and 2 villains). After you build the figures, it will show you how to build the Villain's getaway car. They also show you how to build the police car, helicopter, prisoner transport van and finally the police station. The build was pretty difficult but not as hard as the Fire Patrol Station because it has over 100 pieces less.
Be aware of:
If you look at the side of the box, it will say that the set includes 2 handcuffs, 2 riot shields, 4 radios, 2 beating sticks, 2 megaphones and 2 guns but you actually get only 1 set of handcuffs, 1 riot shield, 2 radios, 1 beating stick, 1 megaphone and 1 gun. Also, if you look at the front of the box you will see the striped criminal with a smiling face and no beard but you actually get a striped robber with a face that has a beard and sunglasses.
The Figures:
In the set, you get 5 figures. 3 of them are police officers (left) and 2 of them are villains (right). The figures are very nicely detailed but are made very poorly with loose legs and arms. The legs of the figures keep coming off. They are hard to stand because of the loose legs. The heads are also very hard to attach on and take a lot of strength to get on the torso.
The Villain's Getaway Car:
The Villain's Getaway Car is used for the villains to make their escape. The car has a mix between red and black pieces to make it look like a villain themed car. There are 2 engine pieces sticking out the front of the car which adds a lot of detail. There is a spoiler at the back. The Villain's getaway car is very durable and nicely built. The front windshield can come off easily because it is only attached to 2 studs. Mega Blocks could of improved the car by adding space for another figure to fit in so that both of the villains can fit inside the car.
The Police Car:
The Police car has a very similar design to the Villain's getaway car. The front engine is covered completely and the spoiler is different to the Villain's Getaway Car. There are police lights at the top of the car. The car is mostly white but has some blue pieces also. Like the Villain's getaway car, the police car is very durable but the front windshield comes off easily.
The police car is very good for racing against the Villains getaway car because of how fast they go when pushed and because they are about the same size.
Rating of the Villain's Getaway Car and Police Car: 4.3/5
The Police Helicopter:
The helicopter is very durable and nicely built. It has 2 grey rotors (one at the top and one at the back). It has 2 skis at the bottom. the rotors spin for a very long time before stopping. You can also add 2 more blades on the rotor to make it spin faster.
Rating of the Police Helicopter: 4/5
The Prisoner Transport Van:
The Prisoner Transport Van is the largest vehicle in the set. It has space for 1 police officer at the front. There are 2 mirrors which adds to the detail of the van. There is plenty of space for the prisoner at the back of the truck. There are doors to keep the prisoner locked inside of the van. The roof of the back is easy to pull open. The Prisoner Transport Van includes 4 jail windows for the criminal to see outside. This vehicle is very durable and fun to play with. They could of added space for 1 more police officer to sit in the front.
Rating of the Prisoner Transport Van: 4.5/5
The Police Station:
The police station is nicely built with lots of space for the figures to be in. The left side of the station has the parking spaces for the prisoner transport van and the police car. Above the parking spaces is the helicopter landing pad and an open area for the figures to hang their tools. There are also stairs so that the figures can reach the helicopter landing pad. On the right side of the station you will find the lower office, the jails and the top office. The lower office has a swiveling chair and a desk. The lower office has lots of space for adding other stuff as well. There is also an empty hallway connecting the lower office to the parking area. On the outside you will find a brown bench and stairs leading to the second floor (jails). On the second floor you will find the 2 jails where you can lock the villains inside. There is not much space inside the jails. The third level (top office) has a small office area for the boss to sit in. There is also a computer screen on the top floor. On the roof there is a small stand where the police logo sticker goes on.
Rating of the Police Station: 5/5
Summary:
We recommend this set to anyone who likes building toys and police themed sets. We were disappointed that they tricked us with the accessories and the face of the striped robber. But this still ended up being a very nice set. This set also comes with a high amount of base plates and lots of special pieces. Paying $40 for this set is worth it even though it has 100 less pieces than the Fire Patrol Station. The station and vehicles are amazing but the figures are poorly made and very loose. The set comes with 31 stickers that you have to stick on and 4 extra stickers.
Value for money: 4.5/5
Amount of play: 5/5
